Beimerstetten is a municipality in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Beimerstetten is located on the Ulmer Flachalb , around ten kilometers north of Ulm .

Neighboring communities

The community borders in the north on Westerstetten and Breitingen , in the east on Bernstadt and the city of Langenau , in the south on the city of Ulm and in the west on Dornstadt .

In addition to Beimerstetten, the municipality includes the suburbs of Hagen and Eiselau .

history

First mentioned in a document in 1377, the place is likely to have been founded in late Franconian times around 900-1000 AD. After the opening of the Stuttgart – Ulm railway line in 1850, Beimerstetten became known as the last station before Ulm and the highest point of the Albübergang (587 m). The 31 meter high church tower of the Evangelical Petruskirche is the hallmark of the place that can be seen from afar. In recent years, due to its convenient location and proximity to the regional center of Ulm, the community has changed from a formerly agricultural place to a modern residential community with a wide range of jobs.

Municipal council

In Beimerstetten the municipal council is elected according to the procedure of the false suburb choice. The number of local councils can change due to overhang mandates. The local elections on May 26, 2019 led to the following preliminary final result. The municipal council consists of the elected voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. The turnout was 68.0%.

In 1981, the Alb-Danube District District Office granted the municipality of Beimerstetten the right to use the coat of arms and a flag in the colors "green-white or green-silver". The colors are listed in a letter from the Landesarchivdirektion Baden-Württemberg.
