Contributions to Feminist Theory and Practice (in short: Contributions ) was a feminist magazine that appeared for three decades, from 1978 to 2008, in around two to three issues per year in Germany . By 1982, seven issues had been published in a rotation process by various editorial groups at Verlag Frauenoffensive . In 1983 a permanent editorial group was formed. Since then, the magazine has been self-published in Cologne , initially by the Association for Social Science Research and Practice for Women , and later by the Association for Contributions to Feminist Theory and Practice .

The small-format booklets usually comprised around 150 pages and more and were designed as a collection of essays around a main topic. The diverse topics that were dealt with from a feminist point of view in the 69 issues of the articles (including 11 double issues ) include war , work , the state , research , money , therapy , politics , family , xenophobia , fundamentalism , age , violence , Utopia , globalization , ways of life , culture and media .

The magazine was created in the course of the second wave of the women's movement in West Germany as a political and theoretical discussion forum. Since it was founded, she has been driving forward the theory debates that are close to practice and movement. During its heyday, it was regarded as an integral part of the feminist counter-public and as an important medium for networking women’s projects and associations.

The articles had until recently described themselves as the largest and oldest magazine of the autonomous women's movement , but their circulation had fallen from around 3,000 to 600 copies in the 10 years before it was closed. The reasons for the decreasing interest in the journal are suspected to be the thematic diversification of the research areas of gender studies , which each publish their own journals, as well as a change in the way of thinking and approaching the younger generation of students and activists .
