Porsche 910 Bergspyder

The hill climb Ollon-Villars 1967 , also Ollon-Villars, Swiss Mountain Grand Prix , was a hill climb that was held on August 27th. The race was the 13th round of the sports car world championship this year.

The race

What began in 1963 with the race on the Passo della Consuma ended in 1967 on the mountain road from Ollon to Villars-sur-Ollon in the Swiss canton of Vaud ; Hill climb as a race of the sports car world championship. This made Gerhard Mitter the last hill climb world championship race winner in sports car history. He won in the Porsche 910 Bergspyder in the sum of the two daily races with a time of 0: 07: 51.500 minutes with a lead of almost seven seconds over his team-mate Rolf Stommelen .

The event was overshadowed by the deaths of the Swiss Axel Perrenoud and Michel Pilet . Perrenoud, who drove a Shelby Cobra reported by Hubert Patthey , had a fatal accident during training. While driving through Huémoz the Cobra got off the track, hit a tree, overturned and stayed on the roof. The seriously injured Perrenoud died in the ambulance on the way to a hospital. Michel Pilet finished both races on his Triumph Spitfire and was classified in 86th place. Pilet had a fatal accident on the way back to Ollon after the race.
