Bernhard Badura

Bernhard Badura (born February 12, 1943 in Opole ) is a German sociologist and emeritus of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Bielefeld University .

Professional background

1966–1971 he studied sociology, philosophy and political science in Tübingen , Freiburg , Konstanz and Harvard . He did his doctorate and habilitation in 1971 with Ralf Dahrendorf in Konstanz. Then Badura was until 1975 professor for social policy at the University of Konstanz. At the University of Oldenburg he was Professor of Sociology and Social Policy from 1981 to 1986, before he worked until 1991 as Professor and Head of the Institute of Sociology at the Technical University of Berlin . Badura was then Professor of Health Sciences and head of the Social Epidemiology and Health System Design working group until 2008.

From 1991 to 1993 he was chairman of the founding commission of the first faculty for health sciences in Germany at Bielefeld University. 1998–2004 he also worked as a consultant at the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Union (EU), the Federal Government of the FRG and numerous companies. At the same time he was President of the German Public Health Association. Badura worked from 2002-2005 as the scientific director of the large commission of experts on “Company Health Policy” of the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Hans Böckler Foundation .

Since 2003 he has been a co-partner of SALUBRIS (Badura & Münch GbR) and scientific director of the "Corporate Health Management" course at Bielefeld University. He has been Emeritus of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Bielefeld University since 2009. Badura has been CEO since 2010 , Social Capital at Occupational Health Standard UG.
