Bernhard Schäfers

Bernhard Schäfers (born February 26, 1939 in Münster ) is a German sociologist .

Life

Schäfers studied at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, where he received his doctorate in 1967. sc. pol. and then worked at the social research center at the University of Münster in Dortmund. In 1970 his habilitation took place there. From 1971 to 1977 he was associate professor for sociology at what was then the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Education. This was followed by an extraordinary professorship for sociology at the University of Göttingen from 1977 to 1983.

As Hans Linde 's successor , Schäfers became professor and head of the Institute for Sociology at the University of Karlsruhe in the 1983 summer semester . Since 1985 he has also been a member of the local Faculty of Architecture, where he offered events on the subjects of urban development and the sociology of architecture . 1991–92 he was chairman of the German Society for Sociology . In 2007 he was a professor at the University of Karlsruhe emeritus .

Schäfers' scientific focus is on social structure analyzes of modern societies, youth, group, urban and technical sociology and comparison of European social structures.
