Technical schools

Technical schools are institutions for professional development. Whoever is at least admitted to the technical school

  1. the completion of the training in a training occupation relevant to the objectives of the respective subject area and
  2. the vocational school qualification and
  3. a job in the training occupation of at least one year, which can also be completed during the technical college education

Deviating from this, anyone who can provide evidence of relevant long-term employment can be admitted to the technical college.

As a rule, the course lasts four to eight semesters (school half-years), depending on the internal organization of the BK and the desired state degree, in the evening or part-time form. Graduates often choose this form if they want to maintain their professional activity during the period of their technical training. For applicants who have at least the technical college entrance qualification, the duration of the course can be shortened from eight to six semesters. In the full-time form, the duration of the training is 2 school years (four semesters).

The qualification "state-certified business economist", "state-certified technician" or "state-certified operations manager" usually takes six to eight semesters part-time or four semesters full-time. Many technical schools cooperate with technical colleges in order to enable graduates to pursue a shortened Bachelor's degree immediately afterwards.

The course concludes with the final exam for a state-certified educator / technician / computer scientist / business economist . The examination consists of a written and an oral part, and the advanced technical college entrance qualification can also be obtained. This is a post-secondary education in Germany or a tertiary education in international comparison.
