Her work The West German States and the Emergence of the Federal Republic (1995) was received positively in professional circles, so it was an "important contribution to the history of the emergence of the Federal Republic" ( Klaus-Jürgen Matz ). According to the cultural journalist Gerald Koll , her dissertation was "fundamental work" on the subject. The Heidelberg historian Werner Giesselmann wrote in a review for the historical journal : "It [is] [..] a very important and thorough research contribution that substantially expands our knowledge of the historical course of July 1948." The Hamburg historian Hans -Dieter Loose praised the "broad [] source base" of the work in the journal of the Association for Hamburg History . The reviewer of the Zeitschrift für Neuere Rechtsgeschichte considers the “hard work” to be “an important contribution to the genesis of the Federal Republic of Germany”. Blank had given "for the first time a clear, comparative summary of the country perspectives", thus adding an important perspective to the research that had previously been "reduced to party-political considerations".

Your book Deutschland, einig Antifa? (2014) has been reviewed and discussed many times, with opinions differing. For example, the political scientist and extremism researcher Armin Pfahl-Traughber , who spoke of “pioneering work”, wrote: “[She] makes it clear in her study that engagement against extremists from the right can sometimes come from extremists from the left. With the help of an abundance of details, the author illustrates the instrumentalisation of an otherwise commendable political commitment by circles that reject and combat an understanding of politics directed against all forms of dictatorship, extremism and violence. ”The Munich historian Petra Weber summarized in the FAZ :“ The perspective the protection of the constitution shapes the representation, which bears the traits of a political pamphlet. [She] has done herself a disservice with this crude anti-communist pamphlet. Contrary to their intention, the reader gets the impression that the ondit is correct, that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution sees sharp in the left eye and is blind in the right. ”The specialist journalist Patrick Gensing from Publikative.org problematized the book“ from the far right was praised in the highest tones ”, newspapers at the same time attested her“ crude anti-communism ”and she kept quiet about her work for the protection of the constitution.
