The Beyşehir Gölü (Beyşehir Lake) is the third largest lake in Turkey .

The lake is located on the western edge of Central Anatolia in the provinces of Isparta and Konya , between the two places Beyşehir and Seydişehir . Its area is 651 km², its length 45 km, and the widest point is 25 km wide. Its maximum depth is 10 m. In its vicinity there are elevations of over 2000 meters. The height above sea level is 1,115 m. To irrigate the Konya Plain , a large regulator is installed near the village of Beyşehir. The base of the lake is precipitation that has accumulated in the Neogene . Other features of the Beyşehir Lake are several islands and the high fish population in the freshwater lake. Some of the islands are İğdeli, Akburun, Kızkulesi, Mada, Yılanlı and Külbent.

Worth seeing

To the east of the lake is the Hittite spring sanctuary Eflatun Pınar , in the southeast the Hittite relief Fasıllar . In the southwest of the lake are the remains of Kubadabad Palace belonging to the Seljuk Sultan Kai Kobad I. was built.
