Bissektipelta is a little-known genus of the bird pelvic dinosaur (Ornithischia) from the group of the Ankylosauria .

So far were of bissektipelta only parts of the cranium as well as isolated teeth and bone plates (osteoderms) found. Otherwise, little is known about this dinosaur. Presumably it had the sturdy trunk that is common to all ankylosaurs with armor made of bone plates and short, strong legs. Accordingly, it is likely to have moved on all fours ( quadruped ) and fed on plants.

The fossil remains of Bissektipelta were found in the Bissekty Formation in Uzbekistan . Initially, the finds were assigned to the already known genus Amtosaurus , of which Amtosaurus magnus was already known from Mongolia . After investigations by Parish and Barrett in 2004, Amtosaurus was declared a nomen dubium due to the sparse findings and the Uzbek finds were assigned to the new genus Bissektipelta . The name is derived from the site, the Bissekty formation, and the Greek πελτα / pelta (= "shield"). Type species is B. archibaldi . The finds are dated to the Upper Cretaceous (late Turonian or Coniacian ) to an age of 91 to 86 million years.

Due to the sparse finds, an exact systematic classification is not possible, this dinosaur is therefore considered Ankylosauria incertae sedis .
