The Blosenberg tower is a transmission tower of the medium wave transmitter of Swiss Radio DRS in Beromünster, completed in 1937 . The tower belonged to the state broadcaster Beromünster .
description
The Blosenbergturm is a self-shining , insulated against earth transmission tower , which has a cab in 150 meters. In the cabin there is a coil through which the top of the tower, which is isolated from the rest of the tower, was separately supplied with high-frequency energy via an overhead feed . Originally the Blosenberg tower was used as a dipole antenna, with the elements for the feed and adjustment in the cabin.
With its height of 217 meters, it was the tallest free-standing structure in Switzerland until 1978; Today it is the third tallest after the St. Chrischona TV tower (the tallest structure in Switzerland is the Grande Dixence dam ). The base of the tower is at a height of 797 m . Until 1995 the Blosenberg Tower was painted completely red and white. Today the lower 40 meters are painted gray-green.
The flight safety lighting of the Blosenberg tower has a special feature: at dusk, an orange rotating headlight located above the cabin is first activated. When night falls, this headlight is switched off and the red flight safety lights attached to the tower are switched on. The danger light on the top of the tower showed whether the transmitter was in operation or not, because it did not go out completely due to the emitted electrical field energy.
The tower was listed as a historical monument in 2009. It will be renovated and will have a webcam . A conversion to a museum is in consultation.
The Beromünster reserve transmission tower stood next to the Blosenberg tower until 2011 .
