List of the tallest television and telecommunications towers in Switzerland
The list of the tallest television and telecommunications towers in Switzerland includes all television and telecommunications towers in Switzerland with a total height of 80 meters or more . Only self-supporting reinforced concrete or steel lattice towers appear in the list.
In an international comparison of the tallest television and telecommunications towers , the Swiss towers are rather low. Only five of them are intended for public traffic and most of the viewing platforms are only accessible by stairs. The towers that are accessible to the public do not have a revolving restaurant . The highest publicly accessible platform of these structures in Switzerland is provided by the Mont Pèlerin television tower at a height of 64 meters. Because of the country's mountainous topography , most of the towers are built on exposed ridges or peaks. Most of the tower structures and their systems have been operated by Swisscom Broadcast AG since 2002. In order to maintain the transmission network throughout Switzerland, the company has over 500 transmission locations with 2000 transmission systems. A little over 120 employees work directly in the transmission towers.
