Blum and Perlmann
The Detective Chief Commissioners Klara Blum , played by Eva Mattes , and Kai Perlman , played by Sebastian Bezzel are fictional characters in the Constance episodes of the crime series Tatort . Between 2002 and 2016, Südwestrundfunk (SWR) was responsible for around two new cases each year with Blum, whose assistant has been Perlmann since 2004.

The SWR announced the new investigator in September 2000. As a location for the third SWR crime scene next to Ludwigshafen ( Odenthal and Kopper ) and Stuttgart ( Ernst Bienzle ), in addition to Constance, Freiburg im Breisgau was also available. The Tatort editors responsible for the engagement of Eva Mattes were Ulrich Herrmann and Carl Bergengruen , the SWR television film department was headed by Dietrich Mack . With Nicole Heesters as Commissioner Buchmüller (1977–1980), SWR's predecessor Südwestfunk had already provided the first female crime scene investigator, followed by Karin Anselm as Chief Commissioner Wiegand (1980–1988) and Ulrike Folkerts as Lena Odenthal (since 1989).
Before her investigative role, Mattes, who was best known from New German Film and as a theater actress, had already worked in the SWR (co) productions Viehjud Levi (1999), Tatort - The Black Knight (2000) and Goebbels und Geduldig (2001) played along. The idea of hiring her as a crime scene inspector came from Ulrich Herrmann, who convinced her to work together with Didi Danquart , the director of Viehjud Levi . Mattes took part in the creation of the figure himself.
Unlike some other crime scene -Follow was determined in Konstanz with softer tones and empathy that is connected primarily with Klara Blum's personality. The filming locations that characterize the Lake Constance crime scene include representative villas as well as elite boarding schools and artist studios, but also houses of bizarre intellectuals. Often the cases are also related to the lake.
The production site was in Baden-Baden , where the SWR subsidiary Maran Film was also based. The interior shots of the Constance police station and forensic medicine, like those of the other two SWR police stations, have been taken since 2006 in a converted school in the Baden-Baden Cité . A large part of the outdoor filming also took place in Baden-Baden and the surrounding Rastatt district as well as in Karlsruhe . For cost reasons, only a few days of filming of each episode were spent at the original location in Constance and the surrounding area.
Since 2007, the SWR has produced several episodes together with Swiss Radio and Television (SRF), which initially was not actually a partner in the Tatort series. In three cases, Reto Flückiger, played by Stefan Gubser , from the Thurgau Seepolizei provided administrative assistance. After Flückiger became the main investigator of the Swiss Tatort episodes broadcast from Lucerne since 2011 , Roland Koch took on the role of Thurgau colleague as Matteo Lüthi in the episodes with SRF participation.
In December 2014, the SWR announced that the Bodensee crime scene would expire in 2016. The last crime scene from Konstanz was broadcast on December 4, 2016.
characters
Klara Blum
Klara Blum began her career in the police on patrol duty. Today, as Chief Detective Inspector, she is in charge of Inspectorate 1 in Konstanz on Lake Constance, her hometown, which she has never left. She had met her husband Martin while on duty; he was the head of her department. The couple had been married for 17 years when Martin Blum was shot while performing his duties. Since the marriage remained childless, Blum now lives alone in her house directly on the lake. Despite this hard stroke of fate, the Commissioner has remained a life-loving, friendly woman who tries to enjoy her life and likes to dance (quote: "Sometimes you have to dance, especially when you are sad"). In her little fisherman's hut on her property, she likes to sit in the gallery with a glass of red wine and let her thoughts wander. Of course, the Commissioner in Konstanz knows almost everyone, which helps her in her professional research. She cultivates her friendships by playing boules or ice stock sport .
After the death of her husband, Blum took over the management of the office. Your closest colleague is initially Bülent Isi, then Kai Perlmann becomes her new colleague. Her open, engaging manner makes it easy for Perlmann to like and respect her. While she is a good shooter, she usually forgets to appear at shooting practice. Since Blum is interested in people, she has developed into an outspoken specialist when it comes to conducting her interrogations with suspects. It is important to her to uncover the background of a crime and to think into the psyche of the suspect. Even after many years of dealing with capital crimes, a case almost never leaves her indifferent. The Commissioner usually has silver station wagons of the Mercedes C-Class available as company cars.
Blum lovingly tends her large garden, chops wood to relax and enjoys reading literary literature. She enjoys reciting poems by heart. In addition to her cultural interest, Blum loves to eat well, especially fish and freshly baked goods. When her time allows, she also likes to cook herself.
Kai Perlmann
Detective chief, later chief inspector Kai Perlmann has been Blum's assistant since the episode Bitteres Bread (2004). He takes great care of his appearance and makes sure to be well dressed. He usually wears a jacket over a shirt and tie, and he has a weakness for Italian shoes. Perlmann, whose middle name is Lorenz, was born in September 1971 in Munich. In 1991 he passed his Abitur. He likes techno and house music, as far as his knowledge in the cultural field is concerned, he has some catching up to do. He prefers to deal with the business section of the newspaper. Privately, he drives a black Chrysler Sebring Convertible for a long time , enjoys dining in upscale restaurants and also likes to go to the casino or the golf course. He loves the finer things in life and values an upscale lifestyle. Blum teases him about his vanities, but acknowledges his good taste. Every now and then, however, she asks herself how the colleague can finance his lavish lifestyle.
Because he is open and honest, Perlmann is valued not only by Blum in his office. The inspector is generally well received by women, but ignores Annika Beck's attempts to flirt. His good manners are proverbial. It is difficult for him that almost everyone in the department is on terms with each other. He has no problem with respecting Blum as his superior, but he doesn't hold back with his own opinion. If he criticizes, it happens in his own quick-witted manner, but always on a factual and sober level and in a friendly tone. His job means a lot to him.
More figures
- Annika Beck ("Beckchen"), secretary (since the first episode; actress: Justine Hauer ). Beck is one of Klara Blum's closest employees, whom she affectionately dubbed "Beckchen". Beck is mainly responsible for research and inquiries, as office work is not Blum's thing at all. In Schmuggler (2012) she cannot be seen because of maternity leave.
- Forensic doctor Dr. Curd Wehmut (since Bitteres Bread , 2004; actor: Benjamin Morik )
- Bülent Îsi (three episodes 2002–2003; cast: Ercan Özçelik ). In the premiere episode Schlaraffenland, Îsi is involved in the case as the police chief at the Stockach police station . As a result of 1000 deaths , he switched to the Constance Criminal Police Department as a detective, investigated alongside Klara Blum and announced that he was going to be a father. After the silent death case , he began his paternity leave. He is considered the first investigator of Turkish origin in the crime scene series .
- Kriminaloberrat Martin Blum (one episode, 2002; actor: Michael Gwisdek ). Klara Blum's husband and superior is shot in the course of the first land of milk and honey. He lived from 1945 to 2001.
- Tanja Kraft (pregnancy substitute for “Beckchen” in Schmuggler ; actress: Alwara Höfels ). Was transferred to Constance as an assistant from the Stuttgart fraud department.
