Robert William "Bob" Ainsworth (* 19th June 1952 in Coventry ) is a British politician of the Labor Party and former Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom .

Life

Ainsworth was born in Coventry in 1952 and attended the local Foxford Comprehensive School . After finishing school, Ainsworth worked for Jaguar Cars in Coventry. 1984 Ainsworth was in the city council elected by Coventry, where he remained until the parliamentary elections 1,992th

From 1992 to 2015 Ainsworth was a Labor Party MP in the House of Commons , where he represented the constituency of Coventry North East. In June 2009, Ainsworth was named Secretary of Defense to succeed John Hutton . He held this office until May 11, 2010. After the change of government he became Shadow Secretary of State for Defense in the shadow cabinet of opposition leader Harriet Harman ; in October 2010 he was replaced in this capacity by Jim Murphy .
