Boltigen is a municipality in the Obersimmental-Saanen administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
Community organization
The community is divided into eight independent farmers : Simmenegg , Adlemsried , Schwarzenmatt , Boltigen , Reidenbach , Eschi , Weissenbach and Oberbäuert . The farmers have their own administration and are considered the primordial cells of today's community.

There is an evangelical reformed parish . The approx. 50 Catholics of the place belong to the parish of Gstaad , whose nearest church is St. Franziskus in Zweisimmen .

1228 first historical mention as Booltingen . The word consists of a Germanic personal name and the place name ending -ingos.
geography
Boltigen is located in the Bernese Oberland in the Upper Simmental below Zweisimmen . The Jaunpass is located in the municipality of Boltigen.
The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Oberwil im Simmental , Diemtigen , Zweisimmen , Saanen , Jaun and Plaffeien .
To the northeast of Boltigen lies the striking mountain group with the Trimlenhorn (1982 m).
