The Royal Arcade , a shopping arcade on Old Bond Street

Bond Street in the district of Mayfair in London is one of the most expensive shopping streets of the British capital. It takes its name from Sir Thomas Bond, a building contractor who developed the neighborhood around the street in the 17th century.

It houses more elegant stores with luxury designer goods, perfume , jewelry , art and antiques, as well as purveyors of the royal family (Royal Warrant Holders) than any other street in the British capital . International fashion brands such as Burberry , Alexander McQueen , Joseph , Gucci , Prada , Giorgio Armani , Ralph Lauren , Michael Kors , Louis Vuitton , Yves Saint Laurent , Hermès , Chanel and many more have set up their flagship stores on this street . Houses like Sotheby’s and jewelers like Boucheron, Breguet , Chopard , Cartier or Tiffany’s can also be found there.

Strictly speaking, Bond Street does not exist as such, although the term is used in common parlance. The northern part of the street, which leads into Oxford Street , is officially called New Bond Street and the southern part, which leads to Piccadilly , is called Old Bond Street . Old Bond Street is about half the length of New Bond Street. The part of New Bond Street adjacent to Old Bond Street at Burlington Gardens is a 200 m long pedestrian zone . Both parts of the street are otherwise one-way streets running in a north-south direction .

The Bond Street station at the junction of Oxford Street and Davies Street is located about 100 meters west of New Bond Street.
