Branka Pupovac (born February 3, 1972 in Wollongong ) is a former Australian wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Branka Pupovac studied at the University of Wollongong and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Commerce .

She started wheelchair tennis at the age of 23 and started in the paraplegic class .

Pupovac took in 2000 at the Paralympic Games in Sydney in part. In the singles she reached the second round, in which she was defeated by Esther Vergeer in two sets. In the doubles competition, she moved into the final against Vergeer and Maaike Smit with partner Daniela Di Toro . They lost 6: 7 and 2: 6 and thus won the silver medal.

In the world rankings she achieved her best placings with twelfth place in singles on October 2, 2000 and ninth place in doubles on August 17, 1999. After her last fully contested season in 2001, she competed in individual tournaments, the last time in the year 2008. She officially resigned in 2004.
