Postage stamps from 1938 issued by the Deutsche Reichspost

The 1938 postage stamps issued by the Deutsche Reichspost comprised 25  special stamps , 18 of which had a surcharge , but no definitive stamps . There is no reliable information on the circulation of the stamps .

From April 4, 1938, the postage stamps of the German Reich were also valid in Austria . Conversely, however, the Austrian trademarks were not valid. 1.00 Reichsmark = 1.50 Schilling was used as the basis for billing . With the introduction of the German postage stamps, the tariffs of the Reichspost were also adopted.

1. ↑ This stamp was produced in the Staatsdruckerei Berlin (perforation 14, watermark 4, # 662) and in the Staatsdruckerei Vienna (perforation 12 3/4, without watermark, # 663).
2. ↑ In addition, in the same drawing, but with the value '12 g 'and the country designation Deutsches Reich Land Österreich, a stamp was prepared in the letterpress process but not issued; in addition, the motif is slightly smaller, with the same size of the stamp, thus a slightly wider margin.
