Capella Antiqua Bambergensis is an ensemble that specializes in medieval music and is based in Wernsdorf Castle near Bamberg .

The core ensemble of the Capella Antiqua is made up of Wolfgang Spindler , Andreas, Anke and Thomas Spindler. In its various themed programs, the Capella Antiqua is supported by international artists such as David Mayoral, Udo Schenk , Murat Coskun , Tanja Kinkel , Paul Maar and Jule Bauer. With the children's book author Paul Maar, Murat Coskun and Ibrahim Sarialtin, Capella Antiqua has been going on literary and musical journeys since 2010 with the project "The Flying Camel". The musicians play on over 50 medieval instruments in their concerts. In 2014 Capella Antiqua received the "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik" and in 2015 the German media award "LEOPOLD".

history

The Capella Antiqua Bambergensis emerged in 1983 from the Bamberg Ensemble for Early Music , which had been in existence for around 10 years . In 1994, the ensemble met rock musician Peter Maffay at an awards ceremony . The artists decided to start a joint Tabaluga project: Peter Maffay contributed the idea and the composition, the musicians of the Capella the so-called magic harp and the old instruments. At the Bavarian State Exhibition of Emperor Heinrich II. (2002) in Bamberg , the ensemble provided the background music. In August 2006, the musicians of the Capella organized the opening event of the 29th exhibition of the Council of Europe and the Saxony-Anhalt State Exhibition of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation in Magdeburg Cathedral . In addition, the music and radio play Codex Manesse was premiered live together with Christian Brückner in the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg as part of this history show. In 2010 the ensemble performed at the opening of the exhibition of the states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse, Die Staufer and Italy, in the Jesuit Church in Mannheim .
