Carl Theodor Hütterott

Carl Theodor Hütterott (born February 9, 1926 in Bremen ) is a German school musician and composer .

biography

As a child, Hütterott sang in the Bremen Cathedral Choir under Richard Liesche and, as a pupil, was a member of the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir at the St. Thomas School under Karl Straube and Günther Ramin from 1936 to 1944 . Called up for military service in 1944, he gained his first experience in composition during the war . After returning from captivity, he initially took private lessons in piano and counterpoint with Volker Gwinner in Bremen and from 1950 studied school music with a focus on singing and composition with Philipp Jarnach at the State University of Music in Hamburg .

In 1960 Hütterott went to the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium in Gütersloh as a music teacher and voice teacher . Here he was active as a senior lecturer until he retired . He was best known as an oratorio singer and through numerous compositions. Among other things, he arranged and composed works for the vocal quartet Drops . From 1990 and 1992 he led the Gütersloh Bach Choir together with Wolfgang Jungekrüger .

Hütterott has been married since 1957 and has three sons. At the beginning of March 2008 he moved from Gütersloh to Paderborn .
