Carlos A. Ott (born October 16, 1946 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is an architect of Canadian-Uruguayan origin living in Canada . He planned the Opera Bastille opera house in Paris .

Life

Carlos Ott studied at the University of Uruguay and received his diploma in 1971. He was the beneficiary of a scholarship in the international competition "Fullbright-Hays Fellowship" of the Washington School of Architecture.

Between 1975 and 1979 he was a partner in the architectural firm “Moffat and Kinoshita” in Toronto ( Ontario ) and won the competition for the renovation and expansion of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. He then headed the team of architects at Cadillac until 1983 and eventually became a partner in the Canadian architecture firm Neish Owen Roland and Roy. In the international competition for the construction of the Paris Opéra Bastille , from which he emerged as a prize winner on November 17, 1983, he took part in his personal name.

He also planned the National Bank of Dubai in 1997 and was the initiator of the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai .
