Centennial is a city in Arapahoe County in the US -amerikanischen State Colorado , United States . It belongs to the southern suburbs of Denver and consists largely of row settlements , which are accessed through curved road networks with many dead ends.

The catchment area of the city is 72.3 km² and ranks fourth among the largest cities in the Denver - Aurora metropolitan area .
history
The city was officially established in Arapahoe County on February 7, 2001 following a referendum in September 2000 . Before that, the largest settlement in the new municipal area was the dependent census-designated place Southglenn , which was recorded in the 2000 census with 43,520 inhabitants on 25.2 km². The name still lives on in Mall Streets at Southglenn , which opened in 2010 and simulates a traditional shopping street with individual shops and thus contrasts with the large, enclosed halls that form the majority of shopping centers in the USA.
Demographic data
In Centennial, 100,377 people live in 37,449 households (as of 2010). According to skin color, there are approx. 87.4% white , 4.8% Latinos ( Hispanic American ), 3.6% Asians , 2.4% African-Americans and 0.4% Indians (status: 2004). The median age is 37.2 years (US mean age 35.2 as of 2003). For every 100 female residents there are 98 male residents (as of 2003).
Airport
Centennial Airport , formerly Arapahoe County Airport , is one of the busiest airports for commercial air traffic (private planes, smaller planes) in the United States . The airport is outside of Centennial City . The airport was not named after Centennial as it got its new name 30 years before the city was founded.
