Christian Brünner

Christian Brünner (born February 12, 1942 in Mürzzuschlag ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP and later LIF ) and university professor. Brno was a member of the National Council from 1990 to 1994 . Together with Wolfgang Mantl and Manfried Welan, Brünner is the publisher of Studies for Politics and Administration. In 2005 he founded the Forum for Religious Freedom with Peter Zöhrer, President of the Unification Church in Austria.

education and profession

After attending elementary school, Brno graduated from a federal high school in 1961. He had previously attended Richfield High School in Minneapolis between 1959 and 1960 . Brno joined the K.St.V. Waldmark Mürzzuschlag , from which he later left. He then studied law at the University of Graz and completed his studies in 1966 with a doctorate. As early as 1964 Brünner worked as a research assistant and was then employed from 1968 to 1978 as a contract assistant and university assistant at the University of Graz.

He also completed his court year and worked for an insurance company for five months. After he was granted the license to teach Austrian constitutional law in 1976 , Brünner was an associate professor between 1978 and 1980. In 1980 he was appointed full professor for public law at the University of Graz, and between 1983 and 1985 he also took on the role of dean of the law faculty. He then held the office of Rector of the University of Graz from 1985 to 1989 .

Brünner also held the position of chairman of the Austrian Rectors 'Conference between 1987 and 1989, chaired the Rectors' Conference of the Alps-Adriatic Working Group between 1987 and 1988 and head of the external institute of the University of Graz from 1987 to 1990. He retired in 2010.

politics

Brno represented the ÖVP in the National Council between November 5, 1990 and November 6, 1994 . He then moved to the Liberal Forum, for which he entered the Styrian state parliament in 1995 . In 1995 Brünner also took on the role of spokesman for the Liberal Forum Styria and was the LIF's club chairman in the state parliament. When the LIF left Parliament in 2000, his political career also came to an end.
