Wolf Rauch

Wolf Rauch (born March 7, 1952 in Graz , Styria ) is an Austrian information scientist .

Live and act

Rauch studied mathematics , statistics , business and business informatics in Vienna and received his doctorate at the University of Vienna in 1976. 1977–1982 he was an assistant or lecturer at the University of Vienna; 1982–1984 Head of the Communication Section of the Society for Information and Documentation in Frankfurt am Main ( Germany ); 1984–1987 university professor in Klagenfurt , since 1987 head of the Institute for Information Science at the University of Graz , 1997–1999 its rector . In 1999 he was President of the Austrian Rectors' Conference and later of the Austrian Technical College Council . Later he was a member of the Styrian state parliament .

He is currently heading the Institute for Information Science and Business Informatics.

In 1982 he received the research award for technical communication and in 1999 he received the Great Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Styria .

On March 8, 2012, he received the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold for services to the Republic of Austria .
