Christian Friedrich Nürnberger

Christian Friedrich Nürnberger (* 1744 in Zwickau ; † February 26, 1795 in Wittenberg ) was a German medic and botanist .

Life

Nürnberger enjoyed his first education in his hometown. He moved into the electoral high school Franziskaneum Meißen and matriculated on May 30, 1766 at the University of Wittenberg . There he pursued a medical degree, attended the lectures of Daniel Wilhelm Triller , Georg August Langguth , Georg Rudolph Böhmer and received his doctorate on September 30, 1773 as a doctor of medicine . After opening a practice in Wittenberg, he held private lectures from 1774 and became an associate professor at the medical faculty on July 22, 1780 .

In 1782 he became a full professor of anatomy and botany in Wittenberg. In science he has made a name for himself in addition to contributions that were connected to his professorship, especially in the field of physiology. He wrote treatises on blood circulation and wrote histological works. His lectures met with a wide response from the student body and were very popular. Most of all, Nürnberger stood out for his thoroughness.

Nürnberger, who on April 30, 1790 had also acquired the highest degree of philosophy of a master's degree , was also involved in the organizational tasks of the university. He took over the interim semester in the winter semester of 1791 and the rectorate of the university in the winter semester of 1787 and 1793 . After his death, Nürnberger bequeathed his own library to the Wittenberg University Library, which was incorporated into the collection of the University of Halle-Wittenberg when it was merged .
