Christian Roger Xavier Marie Joseph Ghislain Goethals (born August 4, 1928 in Heule , † February 26, 2003 in Kortrijk ) was a Belgian racing driver .

Career

Christian Goethals was an amateur who competed in national sports car races in Porsche vehicles in the 1950s . In 1956 he was second in the 1500 cc class at the sports car race in Reims .

In 1958 he rented a Cooper T43 , with which he also competed in the German Grand Prix . A petrol pump defect stopped Goethals' journey prematurely.

The Belgian soon realized that monoposto racing was too fast for him and switched his activities back to sports car racing. In 1960 he was fifth in the 1000 km of Buenos Aires . After a more serious accident at the Angola Grand Prix in late 1960, he retired from racing.
