In June 1995 he opened his first restaurant, the Landhaus Henze in Probstried near Kempten , which he closed after 14 years in May 2009 to devote himself to “new concepts”. The gourmet restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 1999.

In September 2004 he opened the Christian Henze Cooking School, which was awarded the Cooking Together Award by the Eurotoques Foundation in 2009. “It is now one of the largest in Germany and has around 10,000 visitors a year.” In addition to his cooking school, he runs an online mail order business with his own products and cookbooks.

Henze was employed as an advertising chef at the grocery retailer Netto Marken-Discount , where he shot cooking films for his PremiumN brand, which is distributed by Netto .

The TV chef received criticism in late 2011 and early 2012 with his plans for the Künstlerhaus in Kempten . So he wanted to turn this cultural meeting place of all ages into a "modern catering business" and also acquire the building belonging to the city in order to renovate the ailing building. However, Henze's plans met with resistance from citizens. Countless people criticized him on his Facebook fan page. The previous tenants, a group of students, founded an association to preserve the previous cultural purpose.

Christian Henze has been running the Goldene Fässle in Kempten since December 2018 .

Awards

In September 1999 Henze received the silver medal from the German Gastronomic Academy for his first cookbook. Two months later, Christian Henze was awarded a Michelin star . In September 2004 he opened the Christian Henze cooking school in Kempten, which received the “Cooking Together Award” as the best cooking school in Germany in 2009.
