Christoph Nürnberg (or Christoph 88 ) is the radio call name of the intensive care transport helicopter (ITH), which was made available for intensive care transports in Nuremberg and emergency locations in the vicinity. It has been operated by DRF Luftrettung since 2016. In contrast to Christoph 27 , who is also stationed at Nuremberg Airport, Christoph Nürnberg is ready for action around the clock. Operations can also be started at night at 14 air rescue centers in Germany.
Station, use and occupation
The DRF Luftrettung helicopter is stationed at Nuremberg Airport. It is open daily around the clock in standby . He is alerted by the coordination center for intensive care transport helicopters in Munich , about emergencies, so-called primary missions, also via the control center in Nuremberg.
During his missions, Christoph Nürnberg is manned by a pilot from DRF Luftrettung, an emergency doctor from the clinics in Nuremberg and Fürth or the University Clinic Erlangen . The paramedic was provided by the ASB district association in Nuremberg until April 1, 2015, and since then he has been provided by the DRF Luftrettung. In bad weather conditions or when flying in the dark, two pilots are usually deployed for safety reasons. The paramedics or paramedics are part of the helicopter crew (HEMS-TC) and support the pilot e.g. B. in the area of navigation, airspace observation, or the processing of checklists.
