Christoph Karl Sander (born August 1, 1988 in Vienna ) is an Austrian athlete . The son of the former middle-distance runner Karl Sander celebrated his greatest successes to date in the 3000 meter obstacle course and cross-country run .

Career

Christoph Sander started working for the Viennese association DSG Wien since he was a child.

At the 2010 European Cross Country Championships in Albufeira, he came in 92nd place in the U23 race. In 2011 he was Austrian runner-up over 3000 m obstacle and was best Austrian with 69th place at the European Cross Country Championship in Velenje .

In 2012 he came in 63rd place at the student world championships in cross country. A few weeks later, in May, he was able to secure the national championship title in the 4 x 400 meter relay and thus followed in the footsteps of his father, who was able to win the individual national championship title over 800 m twice during his playing days. In June he was again national runner-up over 3000 m obstacle. In December of that year he finished 77th at the European Cross Country Championships in Szentendre .

In 2013, with his personal best of 8: 53.21 min, he became Austrian champion over 3000 m obstacle and ran in 75th place at the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade .

In 2015 he became vice national champion on the 5000 m and in May in the Vienna Athletics Center also national champion over 10,000 m on the track (25 laps in the stadium).

Private

Christoph Sander graduated from the University of Vienna with a master's degree in sports science and teaching (movement and sport and history, social studies and political education). Since 2013 he has worked for the German agency Scholarbook and helps young athletes in Austria to get a sports scholarship in the USA.
