Christopher "Chris" Cumming (born August 26, 1970 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian racing driver . He has competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) since 2015 .

Career

Cumming began his motorsport career in formula racing in his mid-30s . In 2006 he first took part in some races of the Star Mazda Championship . In 2007, Cumming drove in three regional championships, winning the Star Mazda West Coast Championship . He also went back to individual races in the Star Mazda Championship. In 2008, Cumming contested the full season for the first time in the Star Mazda Championship for World Speed ​​Motorsports . With a sixth place as the best result, he was twelfth overall. He also won the so-called Expert class for drivers between 30 and 44 years of age. In 2009 he moved to Kester Racing with Team 3G within the Star Mazda Championship . He won the Expert class again and came in 17th overall.

In 2010, Cumming switched to GT racing. He started for World Speed ​​Motorsports in the platinum cup of the US Porsche GT3 Challenge . In 2011, Cumming completed his second season and finished tenth in the drivers' championship. He also took part in three races in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) for JDX Racing and in one race in the Rolex Sports Car Series for Yellow Dragon Motorsports . In 2012, Cumming stayed with JDX Racing in the ALMS. With four podium finishes, he finished fifth in the GTC classification. In addition, he drove for TRG in a race in the Rolex Sports Car Series. In 2013, Cumming switched to a sports car prototype within the ALMS. For BAR1 Motorsports he drove together with Kyle Marcelli and won three PC ratings. He finished the season in second place in the PC ranking. In the Rolex Sports Car Series he drove a race for Michael Shank Racing .

In 2014 , Cumming received a cockpit in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC), which resulted from the merger of the ALMS with the Rolex Sports Car Series. He started for RSR Racing in every race of the Prototype Challenge (PC). He won a race with Jack Hawksworth . In the PC classification, Cumming was fifth. He also drove a race for Scuderia Corsa in the GTD class . In 2015 , Cumming stayed with RSR Racing in the United SportsCar Championship. Together with Bruno Junqueira he won the PC evaluation twice. The two racing drivers finished the season in third place in the PC ranking. In addition, Cumming took part in four races of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2015 . He took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race for OAK Racing and competed in the last three races for the SARD Morand team . He was 30 in the driver's world championship.

In 2016 , Cumming received a full-time cockpit in the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship at Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports . He also took part in a race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (WTSCC), the new name of the USCC, for Starworks Motorsport .
