Chromapark was the first major exhibition that dealt exclusively with techno art and at the same time saw it as a fair for techno culture. It took place a total of three times in 1994, 1995 and 1996 at the E-Werk in Berlin and was organized by Chromapark e. V. and the agencies Mediamorph and Planetcom under Elsa for Toys and Ralf Regitz . The concept included nightly parties integrated into the exhibition from 10 p.m. and interaction with visitors. ("We do not offer a finished exhibition, but make art that grows out of the night", Ralf Regitz)

history

The first Chromapark event took place from March 31 to April 10, 1994 under the motto "House of Techno". Ten days earlier, Lila Lutz, Christoph Husemann, Gabriele Basch, Dag Przybilla and Elsa for Toys had painted posters and exhibited them at subway stations in Berlin-Mitte .

Artists such as Jim Avignon , Boris Nikolaus Hiesserer , König Maibach and Skudi Optics presented video installations, slide projections, software applications, fashion, posters and paintings. From Dr. Motte , the exhibition was exposed to ambient sounds. Despite the high number of visitors, the event left a financial deficit.

At the “Chromapark '95” from April 13 to 23, 1995, the so-called “Evidence Hall” of the E-Werk was used in contrast to the previous year. Studio K7 demonstrated the animation X-Mix -5. By Ali Kepenek the photo series "Naked Berlin scene" was issued. Record covers and flyers typical of the scene , as well as typography by Alexander Branczyk , were also discussed and presented on the Internet.

"Chromapark '96" took place from April 4th to 13th under the motto "Projections on the nature of the future" with 40 international artists. The E-Werk was open for 96 hours from Thursday.

The “Chroma Opening Party” with DJs Craig Walsh and Daz Saund took place on April 4th. The "Camel Club Move" with Afrika Islam and Steve Mason followed on April 5th and the "Strictly Rhythm Launch" with Pheerce on the following day . As part of the Chromapark there was also a vernissage from 8 p.m. on April 8th in the Aurorabar of the Tresor and on April 9th in the Groopie de Luxe, as well as a fashion show in the Wicked Garden on April 10th.
