Ciarán Hinds [ ˈkɪərɔːn ˈhaɪndz ] (born February 9, 1953 in Belfast , Northern Ireland , United Kingdom ) is an Irish actor from Northern Ireland .

Life

Due to the influence of his mother, an amateur actress, Ciarán Hinds made the decision early on to become an actor. He first studied for a year at the law school of Queen's University Belfast , then he studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . He then performed with the Glasgow Citizens Company . He played the main roles in Goethe's Faust and Arsenic and Old Lace ( arsenic and lace cap ) . An engagement at the Field Day Company earned him several world tours before taking the title role in Richard III. (one of the leading roles in the Royal Shakespeare Company ) appeared.

His film career began in 1981 with Excalibur , which was followed by a number of film and television roles. He played a Mossad agent in Steven Spielberg's film Munich , Aberforth Dumbledore in the last part of the Harry Potter films , an Irish gangster in Road to Perdition , the Russian President in The Attack and Julius Caesar in the HBO television series Rome . From 2013 to 2015, Hinds appeared on the multi-award-winning HBO television series Game of Thrones as King Beyond the Wall , Mance Rayder .

In 2017 he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

Hinds' dubbing voices have changed frequently over the past few decades. He was spoken by Erich Räuker , Helmut Gauß , Klaus Sonnenschein , Manfred Lehmann , Roland Hemmo and Udo Schenk , among others . However, Bernd Rumpf dubbed him most often with ten films .
