The main attraction is the Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Cibodas), which is a branch of the Botanical Garden in Bogor and even exceeds it in size with 125 hectares. It was founded on April 11, 1862 by Johannes Elias Teijsmann , curator at the Bogor Botanical Garden, with the name Bergtuin Tjibodas (Mountain Estates Cibodas). Originally used as a place for acclimatizing plants of foreign origin of great economic importance such as the cinchona tree , it later became part of the Botanical Garden in Bogor and is now one of four Indonesian Botanical Gardens. The garden, located at an altitude of 1300–1425 meters, is now home to 5831 plants of 1205 different species. There are several natural and man-made waterfalls in the park. The park focuses on tropical highland plants, but its range includes palm , fern , conifer , araucaria , bamboo , euphorbia and myrtaceae collections. The greenhouse collection includes over 4000 species, including 350 species of succulents and 360 species of orchids .
