Consolata Boyle

Consolata Boyle (born in Dublin in the 20th century ) is an Irish costume designer . Boyle was nominated for the Academy Award in 2007 for the costume designs for the film The Queen , and further nominations followed in 2017 and 2018 for her work on Florence Foster Jenkins and Victoria & Abdul .

Life

Boyle first studied archeology at University College Dublin before turning to costume design. Boyle completed a professional education at the Abbey Theater in Dublin. She came to film through friends who made films and for whose works she made the costumes. The first major project Boyle designed was the 1798 drama Anne Devlin directed by Pat Murphy in 1984. Her work on Lion in Winter won an Emmy Award in 2002 . For the costumes for the film The Queen , Boyle was nominated for an Oscar and the British Academy Film Awards in 2007. In 2011, Boyle took on the costumes for an award-winning film about the latest English history with the film Die Eiserne Lady .
