Career

Born in Oberaudorf, Constantin Schmid starts for his home club WSV Oberaudorf . Between 2013 and 2019 he attended the Christophorus Schools in Berchtesgaden .

Schmid made his debut on January 16, 2015 in Oberwiesenthal in the Alpencup , where he finished 52nd. In March 2016 Schmid started in Planica for the first time in the FIS Cup , where he finished fourth and eighth. Since then, further participation in both competition series has followed. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2015 in Tschagguns , he finished 31st in the individual competition and fourth in the team competition together with Axel Mayländer, Adrian Sell and Jonathan Siegel.

On August 20, 2016, Schmid made his debut in the Continental Cup in Kuopio , where he finished fourth, narrowly missing out on a podium. In December 2016 he was nominated by the DSV in the national group for the Four Hills Tournament 2016/17 and thus started in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen for Germany. Schmid survived the qualifications for the two competitions, but then had to compete against strong opponents due to the knockout system and was therefore eliminated in the first round as 47th and 49th. In the overall tour standings, he finished 51st with 179.9 points.

At the 2017 Junior World Championships in Park City , Utah , Schmid won the bronze medal in the individual competition behind Viktor Polášek and Alex Insam . In addition, he won the silver medal in the team competition on the normal hill together with Martin Hamann , Felix Hoffmann and Tim Fuchs behind Slovenia and in front of Austria, as well as with the German mixed team. On February 19, 2017, Schmid achieved his first podium finish in the Continental Cup with a third place in Planica . A month later, he took second place in a COC competition for the first time in Zakopane , his best result to date. On March 18, 2017, he won his first Continental Cup competition in Tchaikovsky .

On December 10, 2017, Schmid made it into the points in the World Cup for the first time in Titisee-Neustadt . In eighth place, he also secured his first top 10 placement. He started the Four Hills Tournament 2017/18 with a 28th place in Oberstdorf, after surprisingly knocking out former tour winner Peter Prevc in the first round . Also in the following three competitions of the tour he came in the points and was 18th overall. At the subsequent Junior World Championships in 2018 in Kandersteg , Switzerland , he was junior world champion in the team competition with Philipp Raimund , Justin Lisso and Cedrik Weigel . In the individual competition and mixed team competition (with Luisa Görlich , Justin Lisso and Gianina Ernst ) he was vice world champion.

In 2019 he also took part in the Junior World Championships , this time held in Lahti, Finland . He was able to defend the team title (now with Luca Roth , Kilian Märkl and again Philipp Raimund ). In the mixed team competition he reached the bronze medal with Agnes Reisch , Luca Roth and Selina Freitag , while in the individual competition he missed a medal by just 0.6 points behind Kazakhs Sergei Tkachenko .

On February 22nd, 2020 he achieved his first podium place and his best individual World Cup result to date with third place on the normal hill in Râșnov . On March 6, 2020, Schmid won the opening competition of Raw Air 2020 with the prologue at Holmenkollen in Oslo and with it the first qualifying victory in his career.
