Selina Freitag (born May 19, 2001 in Erlabrunn ) is a German ski jumper .

Career

On August 8, 2016, Friday started for the first time as part of a competition in Klingenthal in the Alpencup , where she immediately took second place. This was followed by further starts in the Alpencup, where she achieved a few more top 10 placements and won a competition in Chaux-Neuve on March 12, 2017 .

On August 18 and 19, 2017, Friday made her debut in Oberwiesenthal in the Continental Cup , where she finished 21st and 13th. Her best placement in a competition of the Continental Cup was for a long time an eighth place on January 21, 2018 in Oberwiesenthal. Two attempts to qualify for the stations of the Ski Jumping World Cup 2017/18 in January 2017 in Hinterzarten and Oberstdorf failed. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2018 in Kandersteg , Switzerland , she finished fourth with the junior team and 19th in the individual competition.

For the 2018/19 season, Freitag took part in the competitions of the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2018 for the first time. She made her debut on July 28, 2018 in Hinterzarten, where she narrowly missed the second round with a 31st place. Two weeks later she reached her first Grand Prix points with a 28th place in Courchevel . In the overall standings, she finished 50th with three points. On December 14, 2018, she celebrated her first Continental Cup victory on Tveitanbakken in Notodden, Norway . In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2019 in the Finnish Lahti , she won the junior women team - together with Jenny Nowak , Josephine Laue and Agnes Reisch - the silver medal and the mixed team, which also includes Agnes Reisch, Luca Roth and Constantin Schmid belonged who have favourited Bronze Medal. She was disqualified in the individual competition.

At the home World Cup on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf on February 16, 2019, Friday made her debut in the World Cup . With a 28th place she also got her first World Cup points.

Private

Selina Freitag is the daughter of the former GDR ski jumper Holger Freitag and grew up in Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb. with two older brothers. The younger brother of them is Richard Freitag . At the moment (as of July 2019) she is attending the ski boarding school in Oberstdorf .
