Counterpart is an American television series. It has been broadcast by Starz since December 10, 2017. The broadcaster ordered two seasons of 10 episodes each from the beginning of the series, whose main actor is Oscar winner JK Simmons . On February 11, 2019, it was announced that Starz will not continue the series. However, the production company Media Rights Capital tried to find a sequel to another TV station or streaming provider. However, Justin Marks, who created the series, announced on his Twitter account on April 3 that there would be no third season of the series.

The series can be seen in Germany and Austria on StarzPlay via Prime Video .

content

Howard Silk has worked for a bureaucratic UN agency in Berlin for thirty years ; However, his clearance is too low to be told what his background work really involves. In fact, the agency is overseeing a transition to a parallel earth, a copy of Howard's world created by East German scientists in 1987 and has since diverged. Silk's “other” self, his counterpart from the other side, is among other things a field agent who regularly goes cloisters to pick up “others” from the other dimension who have become villains. Disputes in the agency in the parallel universe shift to the "real" side, which puts Silk and his comatose wife in danger.

occupation

The synchronization of the series is created at Antares Film under the dialogue direction by Michael Ernst.

production

The series is partly being shot in Los Angeles and mostly in Germany. Studio Babelsberg , which is also co- producing, in the Brandenburg state capital, Potsdam, organizes filming locations on original motifs in Berlin , Potsdam and the surrounding area, and the film is also shot in the studios of the film studio itself.

Michael Nyqvist was originally cast for the role of Aldrich, but he died before filming began and was replaced by Ulrich Thomsen .

Reviews

"The whole thing is set in contemporary Berlin, the favorite location for current Hollywood productions," said the reviewer for the Süddeutsche Zeitung after viewing the first season. "The city acts as an alibi for the historical context and the Kafkaesque setting: an unnamed authority, men in identical gray suits who do not know what they are doing and why they are doing it. Apart from that, most of the protagonists, including Howard, English-speaking origin, and Counterpart could just as easily play in London or Washington. "
