Career

Craig Adams was selected by the Hartford Whalers as the 223rd player in the ninth round during the 1996 NHL Entry Draft - making him the last player in Whalers history to be elected in a draft. From 1995 to 1999 Adams played for the Harvard University ice hockey team in ECAC Hockey . He then moved to the Cincinnati Cyclones from the International Hockey League . During the 2000/01 season, Adams made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Carolina Hurricanes , with whom he played until 2004. During the lockout in the NHL during the 2004/05 season , the attacker was under contract with the HC Milano Vipers from the Italian Serie A , for which he scored 29 points, including 15 goals, in 30 games.

After resumption of play in the NHL, Adams received a contract as a free agent with his ex-club Carolina Hurricanes. With Carolina he won the Stanley Cup in the 2005/06 season and was used in 25 playoff games. In the same season he played 13 games for the then farm team of the Hurricanes, the Lowell Lock Monsters .

On January 17, 2008, Adams was given up to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a performance-related option during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft . Less than a year later he moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins , with whom he won the Stanley Cup a second time at the end of the season . Adams subsequently remained in Pittsburgh for another six seasons until he did not sign a new contract after the 2014/15 season and officially ended his career in January 2016.
