Csaba Vadász
Csaba Vadász (born August 25, 1960 in Pápa , Veszprém County ) is a former Hungarian wrestler . He was vice European champion in 1982 and 1987 in the Greco-Roman style in paper weight and flyweight.
Career
Csaba Vadász started wrestling in 1973 as a teenager. He belonged to the sports club Dunaújváros Kohasz Sportegyesület and wrestled mainly in the Greco-Roman style. He was trained by Gabor Komuczi. At a height of 1.58 meters, he wrestled with paper weight at the beginning of his career and later switched to flyweight.
In 1980 he became the first Hungarian master in the Greco-Roman style in paper weight, replacing Ferenc Seres . In the course of his career he won a total of thirteen Hungarian championships in paper and flyweight, twelve times in Greco-Roman style and once even in free style.
In an international championship he was used for the first time in 1982 at the European championship in Varna . In terms of paper weight, he was able to fully convince and took second place. In the final he was defeated by Vasily Anikin from the Soviet Union on points. At the world championship of the same year in Katowice, he did not do quite as well, but still came in a good 5th place. He celebrated a great success in 1982 at the World Cup in Budapest , because there he succeeded in defeating the 1980 Olympic champion Saksylik Uschkempirow from the USSR in the final of the paper weight .
Csaba Vadász also won a paper weight medal at the 1983 European Championships in Budapest , the bronze one. In the pool final, Bratan Zenow from Bulgaria blocked his way into the final. At the World Cup in Kiev in 1983 he came back to 5th place as in the previous year. He lost again in his pool to Bratan Zenow.
At the European Championships in Jönköping in 1984 he was not in good shape, because he lost in paper weight to Ortze Ortzew from Bulgaria and Krysztof Mudrecki from Poland and ended up in 7th and last place in his weight class. He could not start at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because Hungary boycotted these games for political reasons.
In 1984 he started at the European Championships in Leipzig . He lost in his pool final against Markus Scherer from the Federal Republic of Germany and was defeated in the fight for the European Championship bronze medal against Timor Taimuras Kasaraschwili from the USSR, with which he had to be satisfied with 4th place. For this he won the world championship bronze medal at the world championship of the same year in Kolbotn in paper weight behind Magyatdin Allachwerdijew from the USSR and Bratan Zenow , which meant a great success for him.
In 1986, Csaba Vadász only competed at the European Championships in Athens . However, he disappointed there and only reached 7th place. In 1987 he celebrated another great success at the European Championships in Tampere , because he started there for the first time in flyweight and came in this weight class right behind Andrij Kalaschnykow from the USSR on an excellent 2nd place. In the final he had no chance against Kalaschnykow and lost 4:14 technically. Points.
In 1988 Csaba Vádasz also started at the Grand Prix of the Federal Republic of Germany in Aschaffenburg and came in a good 3rd place in the flyweight category behind Alexander Ignatenko from the USSR and Roman Kierpacz from Poland . It was then also used at the Olympic Games in Seoul . In the flyweight division he lost his first fight against Roman Kierpacz from Poland high on points (0:10 technical points), in his second fight he was shoulder winner over Lamachi Elima from Kenya and in his third fight he lost against Jon Rønningen from Norway , became the Olympic champion , with which he was eliminated from the tournament. Unfortunately, nowhere is it recorded what placement he achieved with these combat results. But he should have placed himself in one of the places 10th to 12th.
In 1989 Csaba Vádasz was at the World Championships in Clermont-Ferrand at the start, where she finished 4th in the flyweight division. In the fight for the world championship bronze medal against the South Korean An Han-bong he was disqualified for being passive. Csaba Vadász also achieved a good 4th place at the 1990 European Championships in Poznan . Only Jon Rønningen , Oleg Kutscherenko from the USSR and Valentin Krumow from Bulgaria stayed ahead of him.
After that, Csaba Vadász started at four other world and European championships, the last time he was at the European championship in Budapest in 1996 and won 8th place at the 1991 European championship in Aschaffenburg and 7th place at the European championship in Athens .
