  • The Dálnice 52 ( Czech for "Autobahn 52") is a motorway in the Czech Republic and part of the European route 461 . In the final stage and in connection with the Austrian north / Weinviertel motorway A5, it will connect the cities of Brno and Vienna . The D52 currently runs from the Rajhrad junction to the Pohořelice- Süd junction . There it goes over to the Silnice I / 52 , which leads via Mikulov to the border with Austria at Drasenhofen . On the Austrian side, there is currently a connection to Vienna via Brünner Strasse B7 or via the A5 motorway.

Until December 31, 2015, the road was classified as a dual carriageway and was named Rychlostní silnice 52 . The D52 is signposted as a car road and requires a vignette or toll . The section between Modřice and Pohořelice was opened in 1996.

    expansion

The Austrian A5 is to be extended to the Czech border. On January 23, 2009, a state treaty was signed between the Czech Republic and Austria, which provides for an extension on the Czech side as D52 to the existing D52 near Pohořelice. This would create a continuous motorway connection between Vienna and Brno in the future.

The project of a "West Tangente Brno", which provides route variants of the D52, which branch off from the previous D52 at Modřice or Rajhrad and lead to a new motorway junction with the D1 at Troubsko, in order to be continued as D43 via Kuřim to the D35 , is included in the long-term planning for the development of the greater Brno area. In 2003 a study was carried out on route variants between the new motorway junction near Troubsko (D1 km 188.5) and Rajhrad . As a result, two variants were developed for the R52, which envisage the execution as an expressway with a cross section of R 26.5 and a design speed of 120 km / h in this section. The plans contain several tunnels in this area, which should be between 492 m and 1090 m long. However, these are only preliminary drafts that are not yet binding, but can only be concretized after the principles of territorial development in the South Moravian region have been established. A route variant runs on the route of the Reichsautobahn Vienna – Breslau , which was under construction before 1945 , but which was never completed.
