Daniel Petrescu

Daniel Petrescu (born January 26, 1971 in Piteşti ) is a Romanian officer with the rank of lieutenant general . Since December 2019 he has been the military commander of the Armata Română , the armed forces of his home country.

Life

Daniel Petrescu was born in 1971 in Piteşti, the county seat of Argeş County .

Military career

Daniel Petrescu graduated from the Romanian Military Institute for Infantry in 1992. After his training he served in various positions in the 2nd Infantry Battalion, most recently between 2004 and 2008 as its commander. During this employment he completed several missions abroad (including KFOR , MONUA and ISAF ). In 2008 he moved to the General Staff. Until 2016 he was involved in various positions in the planning of Romanian missions abroad.

From August 2016 to April 2016 he was in command of the 2nd Romanian Brigade. Between 2017 and 2019 he was in command of the Multinational South-East Division, the successor to the 1st Romanian Division. From August 2019 to December 2019 he was Deputy Commander of the Romanian Armed Forces until, at the end of the year, he was appointed as its commander as the successor to Nicolae Ciucă .

Private

The general is married. He and his wife have two children.
