David Brenner is an American film editor and Oscar winner .

Career

David Brenner's first film as an independent editor was Talk Radio from 1988. Before that, he had gained initial experience as an assistant editor since 1986. In 1990, he and Joe Hutshing won an Oscar for Best Editing in Born July 4th , his second production. In 1996 he was responsible for editing the two Oscars nominated film Independence Day , followed in 1998 by Behind the Horizon . In 2000 he cut the famous film The Patriot . In 2006 he edited the film about the attack on the World Trade Center and in 2009 together with Peter S. Elliot the disaster film 2012 . In 2011 he was involved with Michael Kahn and Wyatt Smith in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides .

In 1990, Brenner won the Oscar for Best Editing for the film Born on July 4th .

He received the Golden Satellite Award in 1996 for his work on Independence Day . At the Satellite Awards 2009 he and his colleague Peter S. Elliot were nominated for this award.
