David Danner (born February 19, 1983 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a former German ice hockey player .

Career

Danner began his career in 1999 when he was active for the professional team of the EHC Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . In his first season for the Wolves, the defender completed 40 league games and scored two assists . At the end of the 2002/03 season he rose to the German Ice Hockey League with the EHC after a 3-0 final series against SC Riessersee . In the following year, Danner could not keep the class with the Freiburg team and went back to the 2nd Bundesliga with them. The defensive player completed a total of 48 DEL games and was able to score ten times.

For the 2004/05 season , those responsible for the Augsburg Panthers provided him with a license to support the DEL Club. In addition to the EHC Freiburg, Danner was also eligible to play for the Panthers from Augsburg. The sponsorship license was terminated in the summer of 2006 when the 23-year-old joined Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg, with whom he was promoted to the top German division, the DEL, in his first season. Danner had a large share in this success with his 15 points in 52 completed games. During the 2008/09 season , the left-handed shooter with the Grizzly Adams was able to celebrate the greatest successes of his career so far, when he and his team both won the German Ice Hockey Cup and reached the play-off quarter-finals. In the final of the DEB Cup, the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg defeated the rivals from Hanover 5: 3.

For the 2009/10 season Danner moved within the league to the Kassel Huskies , where he signed a one-year contract. After the bankruptcy of the Kassel Huskies, he returned to his hometown club in Freiburg in 2010. For the 2011/12 season he was signed by the Heilbronner Falken . For the 2013/2014 season he then returned to his home club, where he finally ended his active professional career after the season.

International

At the U18 World Cup in 2001 , David Danner reached the quarter-finals with the German junior national team and ultimately came in fifth. Thus the league could be secured. In the six games that the defensive player completed, he could not achieve a scorer point. Two years later he was nominated again for the junior national team, with which he participated in the 2003 U-20 World Cup in Canada. With a final ninth place, the defender and his team were relegated to the B-WM. Danner was used in six games and was able to score one goal.
