David Moncoutié [ daˈvid mõkuˈtje ] (born April 30, 1975 in Provins , Seine-et-Marne department ) is a former French cyclist .

In the 2004 Tour de France David Moncoutie succeeded on the 11th stage from Saint-Flour to Figeac his first stage victory in this Tour . He finished the tour in 34th place overall. A year later, at the Tour de France 2005 , he won the 12th stage to Digne-les-Bains on the French national holiday .

As a specialist in the mountains, Moncoutié won the mountain classification from Paris – Nice twice and the Vuelta a España mountain classification four times in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 as well as four Vuelta mountain stages.

Moncoutié was not known to have had a positive doping test during his career , he was also suspected of doping methods that were not otherwise prohibited and, according to numerous witnesses, is considered a "clean" driver.

Moncoutié drove for the French team Équipe Cofidis from the beginning of his professional career in 1997 . At the end of the 2012 season he ended his career as a professional cyclist.
