Davy Schollen (born February 28, 1978 in Sint-Truiden , Limburg Province ) is a former Belgian football goalkeeper .
Career
Club career
Schollen began playing soccer in the youth of KSK Rummen and came to VV St. Truiden via KSC Hoegaarden at the age of 21 , where he made his debut in the First Division in 1999 . In 2002 he went to Racing Genk , but here too he was unable to assert himself as number one in goal. For the 2004/05 season he moved to the Dutch Eredivisie , where he was a regular goalkeeper at NAC Breda . In 2006 he returned to his home country and has been under contract with RSC Anderlecht ever since. In the 2009/10 season he is the third goalkeeper behind Silvio Proto and Daniel Zítka . Until February 2010, he did not appear in any league match this season, but was in the second leg of the Champions League match against Olympique Lyon and in two cup matches in the Belgians goal. In November 2009 he extended his contract until June 2012 and switched back to VV St. Truiden after the contract expired. There he mostly only acted as a substitute and made 28 league games for the club from the Limburg province by the end of his career in 2015 .
National team career
In May 2006, Schollen was part of the Belgian national team for the first time and was initially only on the bench against Slovakia . On May 25, 2006, Schollen made his debut with the “Red Devils”; in the game against Turkey he was substituted on after half-time when the score was 2-2 for Stijn Stijnen ; The game ended 3: 3, Tuncay Şanlı scored the goal against Schollen. Also in September 2009 he was a member of the national team, but sat under coach Franky Vercauteren in the World Cup qualifiers at 5-0 in Spain and at 2-1 in Armenia , in which Jean-François Gillet guarded the Belgian goal, only on the Bank.
Coaching career
After finishing his career, or even shortly before that, he became involved as a goalkeeping coach in the offspring of his home club VV St. Truiden.
