Hohenmorgen is the name of a vineyard near the small Palatinate town of Deidesheim ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

Location, climate, soils

As a single site, the Hohenmorgen is part of the Forster Mariengarten large site . The site covers an area of ​​2.8  hectares ; the name was first mentioned in 1828. The Hohenmorgen is at an altitude of about 130 to 140  m above sea level. NHN and is 100% pending and faces southeast. The location extends north of Deidesheim, belongs to the Palatinate growing area and here in turn to the Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse area . The transition from the Palatinate Forest to the Lower Palatinate Lowland, known as Mittelhaardt, forms a two-kilometer-wide foothill zone; in the high morning area the soil consists of loam, loamy sand and sandstone rubble. The Haardt mountain range protects the vineyard from excessive rainfall in its lee , and the slope of the slope means that on frosty spring nights, cold air can flow down to the Rhine plain and the vines usually do not freeze.
