content

Widowed writer Carolyn Muir moves into an old house in the fictional fishing village of Schooner Bay on the New England coast with her children Jonathan and Candy, as well as housekeeper Martha and dog Scruffy . Owner and landlord Claymore Gregg is a descendant of a previous owner, Captain Daniel Gregg, whose ghost haunts the house to this day. So far he has always succeeded in scaring off any tenants, but Gregg grits his teeth on Carolyn. She, who can see him together with Jonathan as the only one, stands up to him, so that over time he even develops sympathy for the new tenant and holds his protective hand over her and her family. In the further course of the series, Gregg also appears Candy and Martha, but not Claymore, for whose hare-footedness he is ashamed and would rather deny direct relatives. Claymore is often the victim of gross jokes by the captain.
