content

1st episode excitement in the castle

First broadcast: December 22, 1991, 1:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m., duration: 28 min
Queen Elodie tries to give her husband King Pumpel the XV. to wake up from pumped pits around eight in the morning. However, he shows no interest in this proposal. Eventually Elodie gives up and rings the doorbell for the royal valet James instead. She asks him to give the royal scout (according to James' testimony he wont appear at nine o'clock) to give her access immediately. At this request James opens the window. Now the royal scout, the raven Noro, introduces himself. It is currently in ruins on the border between Pumpelonien and the neighboring Kingdom of Pipinien. In the ruin he spots a masked man who has been looking for and found something, whereupon he rides away on his horse. Now Noro goes to the cave of the Pumpelon dragon and there meets his "employee", the dragon scout beaver bear. He reports - doing its name justice - shivering that the dragon's stomach growled. When Noro heard this growl, too, he made his way back to the royal palace. There he reports the daily "old hat" to Queen Elodie:

" I have my eyes everywhere.
See Prince Pumpel there in the barn,
Mariechen in the vegetables,
looks particularly sweet today
And the cook was in the spinach
he is once again bland today
"

Elodie expects more from her royal scout and so Noro now reports on the dragon's stomach growling (Elodie: " Something has to be done ") and the figure with a large black wheel coat, who is at the old ruin, which is a point of contention between the pumpeloners and pipiners , sneaked around.

The conversation is interrupted by the phone ringing and, after King Pumpel fails to wake up again, Elodie picks up the receiver himself. On the phone is Queen Bertlinde from Pipinien, who on behalf of her husband King Pimpi III. reminds of the royal couple's old agreement that their children, Prince Pumpel and Princess Pimpinella, get married. She announces Pimpinella's arrival tomorrow. Elodie agrees, as she promises the dowry will save Pumpelonie, which is completely impoverished. Elodie then orders Prince Pumpel. King Pumpel, for his part, is once again completely absorbed in the human, don't get angry game with himself and shows only less interest in Pimpinella's arrival tomorrow. Prince Pumpel is meanwhile in the garden with his great love, the gardener Mariechen, and wants to give her his grandmother's heirloom, a ring. Noro interrupts the whole thing by ordering Pumpel to see his mother. He also uses the moment to annoy his “enemy”, the cat Bummibol, who belongs to Mariechen, a little. After Pumpel arrives at his mother's, Elodie instructs James to summon all the court employees. Ultimately, however, it turns out that apart from James only the cook and gardener Mariechen are left, as the remaining employees were either disgusted by Elodie or simply could no longer be paid. This is how Elodie makes the most of what is available to her: Since the cook can decorate cakes, he is given the task of preparing Pumpel's clothes. Mariechen, who can mow the lawn, has to cut Pumpel's hair. James is allowed to sweep the yard and even King Pumpel is given a job, he has to repair the roof that is forever leaking. Since he is afraid of work, Noro goes back to the cave of the dragon Fidibus and learns that he is cursed and can only be redeemed by a girl. The next morning, Princess Pimpinella sets off for Pumpelonien with the servants ping and pong as well as 17 pairs of shoes and eleven dresses. On the way there, however, the carriage is attacked by the dragon Fidibus and while the servants and horses flee, Pimpinella has to stay with him.

2. Episode Dragon Alert

First broadcast: December 24, 1991, 1:45 pm - 2:15 pm, duration: 28:01 min.
After finding out that Princess Pimpinella was kidnapped by the dragon Fidibus in the Pumpelonischen castle in the morning, one devotes more or less disinterestedly to his normal daily routine. King Pumpel is happy to finally be able to play Mensch ärgere dich nicht again, Prince Pumpel is more relieved than dismayed and wants to go to the stable animals, the cook and cupbearer are a little upset about the work that was previously done unnecessarily and decide to go to the To bring the wine cellar to safety from the dragon. Only Queen Elodie is plagued by financial fears, as she now has to fear for her dowry. She sends Noro to strike dragon alarms across the realm. Meanwhile in Pipinien King Pimpi gives the fled servant Ping and Pong a lecture. Queen Bertlinde fears for her daughter, but Pimpi calms her down by pointing out the plan. Pimpinella is fine with the kite. The only one who suffers is Fidibus himself. He quickly regrets having chosen this particular girl. The princess orders him around mercilessly, he has to sweep the cave, blow dry her hair and pick blackberries for her. The prickly beaver bear admires Pimpinella for her courage.

King Pimpi tells his wife about his plan and also tells her that they too are broke. The masked man who had sneaked around the ruins the day before was King Pimpi himself, who found a parchment there that provides information about the Pumpelon dragon and his treasure. There it says that the dragon has been cursed by a witch and only a human child from the land of the Pumpelonians can redeem him from this curse and receive his extensive treasure in return. However, the parchment has been eaten away by mice at the important point where it says how the curse can be broken. But Pimpi assumes that the dragon has to be killed and immediately calls Pumpelonie to entrust Prince Pumpel with the task of killing the dragon and thus saving his daughter. He pressures him with Pimpinella's dowry. He also tries to appeal to his ambition that other princes are on the way to Pimpinella's rescue. Prince Pumpel has to go on a dragon hunt with the Pumpelonian king's sword, which he dubbed a rusted scimitar, with which, according to Queen Elodie, his ancestors exterminated the dinosaurs. Before that, of course, he says goodbye to Mariechen, who gives him her lucky charm on the way. In return, Pumpel finally gives her the pumpelon engagement ring that he wanted to give her before. The episode ends with another attack by Noro on Bummibol.

3. Follow abuse and disgrace

First broadcast: December 25, 1991, 3: 10–3: 40 pm, duration: 25:59 min.
At one o'clock in the afternoon, Noro sits on the roof again and reports what has happened so far. In the meantime, King Pumpel is playing man don't get angry again and Queen Elodie is upset about this situation. Mariechen is in the garden and worries about Prince Pumpel while he is on his way to the dragon's cave with his donkey and sings about the fact that he neither wants to marry Pimpinella nor kill the dragon. When he arrives at the dragon's cave, the donkey throws him off and Pimpinella laughs at him. She doesn't want to come with him at all, but prefers to wait for her super prince, who would still come to save her. Fidibus desperately asks Pumpel to finally free him from this princess. Prince Pumpel is therefore riding home again.

Meanwhile, after being annoyed by Bummibol again, Noro reports to the Queen that Mariechen is wearing the pumpelon engagement ring. The queen is indignant and orders Mariechen to come to her immediately. When she then sees that Mariechen is actually wearing the ring, she accuses them of theft and banishes them together with the cat Bummibol from pump pools. Meanwhile, the ice cream man Gelato Gelatini has appeared at the Drachenhöhle. Fidibus runs enthusiastically out of the cave to the ice cream truck when he hears that his favorite flavors are also on offer. Gelato Gelatini takes possession of Princess Pimpinella after her father announced to King Pimpi that whoever rescues the princess may have her. Fidibus empties the ice cream truck and Gelato Gelatini orders Pimpinella to pick it up and clean it. He and Pimpinella go away together.

Mariechen and Bummibol are meanwhile wandering through pumped villages towards the border. Elodie and King Pumpel are worried about Prince Pumpel. King Pumpel is even so desperate that he loses the fun of being angry with you not playing. Noro is also sad because he no longer has an argument. Gelato Gelatini and Pimpinella now arrive at this home. At first Pimpinella misses the servants, but quickly finds her way around her new job as an ice cream woman. The prickly beaver bear now dares to get closer to it because the dragon is doing badly from all the ice and is sleeping again. King Pimpi and Bertlinde fight again out of concern for the daughter. The servants Ping and Pong cannot remedy the situation either, since they do not know where Pimpinella is currently either. Prince Pumpel finally arrives at the Pumpelon royal castle and confronts his parents after he has not found Mariechen anymore. When he learns that she has been sent away, he sets out to look for her. The episode ends when the phone rings.

4th episode The Big Bang

First broadcast: December 26, 1991, 2: 40–3: 10 pm, duration: 28:00 min.
At six in the evening, Noro reports back from the roof about everything that has happened so far. Meanwhile, King Pumpel is on the phone with his wife Elodie in the background screaming with his colleague King Pimpi. The kings argue that Prince Pumpel did not save Princess Pimpinella and that her condition is still uncertain. Noro is therefore sent on a round tour through the empire. His first stop is the house of the ice cream man Gelato Gelatini. While Gelato Gelatini is standing in front of the house singing, Princess Pimpinella is tidying up the inside and creating the new ice cream Pimpinella's secret . When the ice cream man proposes to visit Pimpinella's parents, she has no interest in it because she doesn't want to go back to the boring castle, as they are very poor anyway. Both plan to be happily married.

So Noro flies on to his next station, he watches Mariechen and Bummibol on their way, wondering where they should stay overnight. Suddenly they hear the dragon Fidibus screaming with stomach ache. Mariechen immediately starts to take care of him. Bummibol is initially afraid and stays with the prickly beaver bear. After the dragon has described his situation to her, Mariechen gets him herbs to keep his stomach ache. But the dragon doesn't want to eat them at first because they are too bitter for him. He finally eats it and offers Mariechen to spend the night in his cave when she wants to leave. When he also gets to know the cat Bummibol, Fidibus is completely excited because he thinks he is a little kite. Noro now goes to his last round tour station, to Prinzen Pumpel, who is desperately looking for Mariechen, but has so far been unsuccessful. So he goes to sleep. The next morning the hissing over Fidibus and Bummibol. Pumpel watches the rising flames and hurries to the cave when Noro tells him that Mariechen is with the dragon. The prince wants to fight again with Fidibus so that he can release Mariechen. But with his screams he wakes the girl and the two happily embrace. He asks Mariechen if she wants to marry him. After hearing that the royal couple approve of the wedding, she agrees. Meanwhile, Bummibol asks Fidibus to blow fire towards Noro so that it disappears. Mariechen, Pumpel and Bummibol want to leave for the castle again, but the sad Fidibus tries to hold them back. He's afraid of being all alone again as he was centuries ago. Mariechen kisses him to comfort him and escapes him with it. She transforms into a rich, sumptuously dressed princess, who is also entitled to the entire dragon treasure. The shiver bear also comes out of his hiding place on this occasion and realizes that he is no longer afraid of the dragon and is no longer a prickly shiver bear, but a completely normal sting bear. Fidibus is finally hired as the royal house dragon, Mariechen even gives him her amulet so that he never has to worry about his stomach again. The goose bear tells everyone what happened to Princess Pimpinella.

Meanwhile, Gelato Gelatini and Pimpinella seek out the Pipinian royal couple and Gelato asks for Pimpinella's hand. As the two drive away, King Pimpi realizes that the world is no longer okay. In Pumpelonien, on the other hand, it is said that the world is all right again, because King Pumpel has finally found a play partner in the dragon Fidibus and is more than happy. Elodie is also satisfied because Mariechen treats her to a maid. Noro is deposed as a royal scout and is now only allowed to guard the garden gate. Mariechen and Pumpel dance happily singing through the garden and Noro gets to the point: "Peace, joy, pancakes."

Characters

Pumped villages

  • King Pumpel the XV. loves to play, man don't get angry. Unfortunately, he very rarely finds a playing partner, so he is forced to play with himself. Nevertheless, this state of affairs cannot take away the joy of the game (“ 6, I can do it again!”). The king seems to have little interest in ruling and instead prefers to sleep.
  • Queen Elodie is always concerned about the welfare of the empire and tries everything to lead it out of the financial crisis. Your husband is of course no help.
  • The Royal Chamberlain James was the Royal Cupbearer for over 40 years before he became Royal Chamberlain. His way of expression is very reminiscent of his earlier assignment. So instead of “ Very good, Majesty ” he always says “ Very good, Majesty ”. If he is called, he also asks “ What can I serve? ". When Elodie replied with “ Den Pumpel ”, James finally presented him with “ Prinz Pumpel, vintage '72, late harvest. Very good! “Like a wine.
  • The Royal Scout Noro sees everything, knows everything and reports everything. (" You are only too happy to stick your beak ... in the matters of strange gentlemen ... know the daily habit of all ladies ... and everyone's name is name by name ") He is enemies of Mariechen's cat and uses every opportunity to annoy him. Furthermore, the raven acts as the narrator of the series and brings the viewer up to date at the beginning of the third and fourth episodes.
  • The prickly beaver bear is Noro's "employee". However, this has whispered him a little to have a constant dragon scout. Noro claims that the king himself chose the bear for this job. The beaver bear lives in constant fear of being eaten by the dragon. However, it soon turns out that the dragon knows that the bear has been hanging around its cave for years and never wanted to eat it. In the end, the bear gives up shivering and is even allowed to move into the dragon's den.
  • Like his father, Prince Pumpel shows no interest in governing or the pomp that regenthood brings with it. He enjoys looking after the stable animals and hates wearing his crown. Furthermore, he is strictly against marrying Princess Pimpinella, as his true love is the gardener Mariechen.
  • As a small child, gardener Mariechen was found wrapped in rags by the royal couple by the stream and accepted by them. Her constant companion is the cat Bummibol. Mariechen also has feelings for the prince, but is afraid of the queen's reaction.
  • The cat Bummibol is enemies with the royal scout Noro and in turn uses every opportunity to wipe him out. He would do anything to protect Mariechen, but in some ways he is a little scaredy. The dragon Fidibus later becomes a good friend because he thinks Bummibol is a little dragon.
  • Dragon Fidibus: " I am the dragon Fidibus, the last of my kind ... ". This is how the dragon imagines itself after waking up from a long sleep. He would like to be a good dragon (“ Why do I just have to be an evil dragon? ”) And would then apply to be a house dragon in the hope of being rewarded by the people with cucumber puree or even raspberry cake - his favorite foods. However, a curse has forced him to go on manhunt. His mother, the dragon Feuerbrunne, had messed with the shaggy witch 999 years ago, who then cursed Fidibus. Only a girl can release him from this curse with a kiss.

Pipines

  • King Pimpi III. is much more cunning than his colleague King Pumpel. He also tries by lying, for example with regard to the ruin on the border (" Of course it belongs to them [the Pumpeloniern]. But of course we deny that. ") To get his way. Furthermore, he risks putting his daughter in danger, only to finally get the money that he has lost through betting and his wife shopping.
  • Queen Bertlinde has completely spoiled her daughter Pimpinella and is constantly worried about her. However, she is very spoiled herself and constantly needs new clothes, which has ruined the Pipinian royal couple.
  • Princess Pimpinella is a very spoiled princess. She believes that everyone is in love with her. Later she wants to live in a palace, have 100 servants, wear a new dress every day and go to the disco every evening. But above all, she wants a superman and not Prince Pumpel, who as a swineherd has more joy than being a prince. However, Pimpinella's mind changes a lot towards the end. She never wants to go back to the boring castle and prefers to travel the world with her husband, the ice cream man Gelato Gelatini.
  • Ping and pong are the servants of the Pipinian royal couple. They are identical twins and cannot decide for themselves which of them is ping and who is pong. They also confirm insults on the part of the king with a “ Yes, your Majesty ”. In addition, they usually speak in a choir or repeat what the other person has just said.
