The German Arachnological Society e. V. (short: DeArGe ) is an association that serves to bring together German-speaking arachnologists , with the exception of acarologists ( mite research ).

Its aim is to promote arachnology and, with over 1600 members, is the world's largest association of arachnologists and spider (animal) keepers. It sees itself in particular as a forum for terrarium owners who deal with keeping, breeding and researching tarantulas and scorpions , as the vast majority of the members are almost exclusively concerned with these arachnids.

DeArGe was founded in 1995 in Ludwigsburg . The current seat and the entry in the association register of DeArGe e. V. is located in Zülpich (Bonn District Court).

The organ of publication is the bimonthly ARACHNE ( ISSN  1613-2688 ), which is one of the leading international specialist magazines, especially in the field of tarantulas.

The DeArGe should not be confused with the AraGes, the Arachnologische Gesellschaft e. V. , which deals with the research of the arachnids found in Central Europe ( spiders , harvestmen , pseudoscorpions , scorpions and palpigradi ).
