Around 1514, the first prospecting took place in what would later become the municipality. The Grünthaler Saigerhüttenfaktor August Rohdt received in 1620 the Fortuna mine and the Pallas treasure trove . In 1637 he built a Hohen-Ofen-Platz to support the Drahthammers in Rothenthal . From the nearby St. Catherine Berg came exiles as professionals. In 1651 the settlement was first mentioned as Naudorff unter Catherbergk and in 1657 it comprises three houses. After the end of the Thirty Years War and the occurrence of the plague , the area was almost deserted. Bohemian exiles were settled on the cleared areas. The first teacher was put on record in 1718. The construction of its own church was completed in 1736 and a school building was erected in 1741. In 1801 Deutschneudorf became an independent parish. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1875. The first telephone station was set up in 1879. The municipal office was established in 1924. A swimming pool was built in 1936. During the invasion of the German Wehrmacht into the Sudetenland on October 1, 1938, the Reich Education Minister Bernhard Rust and Konrad Henlein were in town. On April 1, 1939, the Oberlochmühle, previously part of Oberseiffenbach , was assigned to Deutschneudorf. Between autumn 1944 and May 8, 1945, members of the special unit of the Wehrmacht Brandenburg set up a secret depot for art and cultural property under the code name ORPHE .

In memory of the victims of the death march of June 9, 1945 from Komotau to Maltheuern , which also passed through Deutschneudorf, a memorial was erected.

Between 1966 and 1970 the central drinking water supply was built.

On May 3, 1927, the Olbernhau-Grünthal-Deutschneudorf railway line, approved by the Saxon state parliament in 1919, was opened as one of the last railway lines built in Saxony . On May 21, 1966 the regular passenger traffic on this railway line was stopped; the cessation of freight traffic took place on September 26, 1969. An order of June 12, 1970 ordered the dismantling of the line, in the following year all tracks and the steel bridge superstructures of the line were dismantled.

On January 1, 1999, Deutscheinsiedel and Deutschneudorf were merged to form the municipality of Deutschneudorf.

During the August floods in 2002 , Deutschneudorf was one of the first places to be flooded.

Museums

In Deutschkatharinenberg, the “Fortuna-Stollen” visitor mine, which opened in 2001, is located in a copper and silver ore mine that was operated until 1880 . To this day, there are suspicions that the Amber Room was stored here at the end of the Second World War . The local museum "House of the Ore Mountains Tradition" is located in Deutschneudorf.

Deutschneudorf and the Amber Room

The former mayor Heinz-Peter Haustein has been looking for the Amber Room in the region for years . As it became known in February 2008, ground scans had shown cuboid shapes, which suggested underground gold or silver. Furthermore, there are indications in the documents of a radio operator and navigator of the air force of the former Wehrmacht that valuable boxes were brought to Deutschneudorf in the last days of the Second World War. In 2008, a previously unsuccessful search with grid-type earth boreholes took place.
