Dick Ebersol

Richard "Dick" Ebersol (born July 28, 1947 in Torrington , Connecticut) is a radio and television personality . He originally came from the American Broadcasting Company with ABC Sports man Roone Arledge. When he started at NBC , he created the show Saturday Night Live in 1975. In 1989 he was named NBC Sports President.

He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1971.

Ebersol has been married to actress Susan Saint James since 1981 , they had three children together, and two other children were brought into the marriage by Saint James.

On November 28, 2004, Ebersol was seriously injured in a crash of a charter plane in Montrose , Colorado . The captain and copilot of the Bombardier CL-601 died in the accident . One of Ebersol's sons, Edward "Teddy" Ebersol (born June 10, 1990), went missing after the crash - his body was later found. Teddy was dedicated to the 14th episode of Season 4 of Scrubs , an American sitcom. The planned flight route led from Montrose Regional Airport near the Telluride - Ski -region to South Bend , Indiana . In South Bend, Ebersol's son Charles attended Notre Dame High School. Charles survived the crash. The plane crashed shortly after take-off because a heavy snow storm obstructed visibility.
